Sale Men’s 2s 0 v 10 Bangor City Men’s 1st

A ten man Sale team went down 10-0 to Bangor on Saturday. Bangor never looked like loosing as they took complete control of the match early on, and in the first half Sale struggled to penetrate in to their opponents half. John Kelham started the scoring with a rebound after the Sale goalkeeper had already saved the previous effort. Bangor often felt that they could do everything but score as heavy pressure was put on the home team, only for their goalkeeper to pull off a string of fine saves and double saves to continue to frustrate the visiting team. Bangor finally reaped the reward of their high possession and territory in the first half as Aaron Cobby and Tom Marshall scored to give Bangor a 3-0 lead at half time.

Sale were unlikely to put their heads down, and started stronger in the second half, they fought to get a grip on the game, and were pressing harder and deeper in to the Bangor half. But Bangor were on a roll, and both John Kelham and David Paterson came away from the match with a hat-trick each. The most noticeable goal of the game came from David Paterson who began the move deep in to his own half with a sprint down the left wing before a quick passing move placed him in a great position for him to strike the ball with a great diagonal shot straight in to the goal. Matt Rogers also found his name on the score sheet before Bangor scored with a well struck effort by Grant Bond from a short corner to cap off Bangor’s scoring spree.
