Bangor City Ladies 1 – 0 Porthmadog Ladies
Bangor City Ladies unbeaten run continued this Saturday with a 1-0 win away at Porthmadog. Bangor came out fighting from the starting whistle and are playing this season with renewed vigour.
Bangor still struggled to convert chances in the offensive D, but with perseverance comes success. The Bangor midfield worked tirelessly from the start with some nice linking play coming from Miffy Wilson and Ffion Roberts down the right hand side. The Porthmadog defence remained resilient to the attacks though and swiftly turned a Bangor attack into a Porthmadog attack. The Bangor defence was solid with Menna Jones and Elin Evans trying their hand in defence the back three, alongside centre back Helen Glanville, deftly dealt with Ports counter attacks. The first half ended 0-0 with both teams tempers rising.
The start of the second half was much the same as the first half with both teams having equal possession but neither team getting on the score board. Some scrappy defending saw Myfanwy clear the ball off the line to stop Port from scoring. Bangor managed to keep their frustration at bay and after some great interlinking play from the midfield, Rhian Culley set up Ffion Roberts to put Bangor 1-0. Port came back hard on Bangor but Bangor were not ready to let go of their hard earned lead. Port ended the game with a penalty corner, but the Bangor defence held strong and safely saw the ball out of danger for them to retain their lead. A great team performance from Bangor saw them come away with a well-deserved win.
Helen Glanville was voted opposition player of the match for a solid defensive performance and Miffy Wilson was voted players player of the match for her relentless fight in midfield. Next week see Bangor play rivals Ardudwy.
